Bidirectional cavopulmonary shunt
Cavopulmonary shunts are used in patients born with a functionally single ventricle.

The shunt connect one of the heart's main veins, the superior vena cava, directly to the pulmonary artery, bypassing the heart completely.

SVC blood flows passively into both right and left pulmonary arteries.
There is discontinuity between the right atrium and the SVC-pulmonary artery amalgamation.
